Kaki Isles has been with me since 2007. It has been like a home to me even though it is a virtual place. It is a place where I can go escape to mentally when the RL becomes a bit too stressful and unpleasant.

As times goes by, the folks at Kaki Isles have moved on to other things and Kaki Isles has become like a ghost town. However, many of the oldies still remember it as a place where we used to hang out and have so much fun chatting and playing there.

The time has come for Kaki Isles to be closed down and goes down the memory lane....

Thanks to Kenyang, Cadencia, Glantor, Livideye, Yuu and Reiko...we have enough people to support the land tier for Kaki Isles for now. So there's still a place for Sg people to come afk or hang out...the new tenants are in the process of settling down and hopefully we will see more activities in the sim soon.

As with everything else, all things whether good or bad has to end some day... So today is the day we bade farewell to the Kaki Isles that we have with us for almost 2.5 years.

At the peak of the party, we have 44 AVs with us. Some are old friends that we have not seen for so long and they specially come in for this farewell party.

Thanks to Junz for helping to DJ at the last minute notice. :)

It's really good to know that everyone has some fond memories of this little virtual land that has enable many friendships to form and bloomed.

Farewell to Kaki Isles

With a heavy heart, I announce the kaki isles will be closing down on 6 Dec 09 due to various kaki isles founders deciding to move on and give up their share of the sim.

I know some of us have fond memories of this little haven since it started in May 2007. Before we lose it forever, lets have a little farewell gathering here in Kaki isles on 30 Nov ( Monday) night at 9.30pm. The old timers will surely remember the regular Monday nights parties we used to have here... so lets relive the memories one last time.

Geesh...I have been so slack...:)

Not many parties on Kaki Isles since I decided to take a break from hosting the regular Monday nite parties..

So its quite a nice get together when we decided to hold a Christmas Party for this year.

JunZ Darkstone DJ and hosted the treasure hunt and raffle ball event. About 5000L worth of gifts and Linden dollars were given out to some lucky kakis during the party.

As last Sat happened to be National Day, we decided to have a post NDP party to celebrate our nation 43th birthday.

We have a very serious theme for tonight. Due to global warming and the melting of the ice caps, the water level on Kaki Isles have risen to an alarming level that all the isles were submerged.

Thinc Cafe was totally flooded.

Hi everyone,

There's a report in Sunday Times today (20Apr08, Home pg 10-11) about Singaporeans living Second Lives in SL.

Generally, the writer painted a pretty sleazy and gloomy picture of friendships/relationships in SL. The takeaway: IT's NOT REAL. There are even mentions of IMH, or helplines. Overall, not a pretty picture being reflected. Most importantly, not an ACCURATE reflection at all.

We take OFFENCE at this. And we are deeply disappointed that a noob reporter without a deep understanding of SL has written about how superficial it is.

So we are launching OPERATION: "VIRTUAL WORLD, REAL KAKIS".
It's simple., really. We want to let the world know, there are REAL friendships involved in SL.

Firstly, we want to GATHER as many Singaporean AVs in SL to take a massive group photo.
We'll do it monday (sg time, 10pm) at Thinc Cafe.

Remember: WE WANT AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE! So pass this notecard around to whoever u know.

Next, we plan to draft up a letter reply to the said reporter. It will be a friendly, "Do you know?" letter sharing with her who we are, and all the positive aspects of friendships, creativity and community fun in SL. And we'll like everyone to put their names on this letter.

16 Feb is the opening date for Pink Ginger - a clubhouse which Kakis Founder - Domch *my darling* - owns.

Not just any club, it's a dedicated club for Asian Gays and friends to gather, interact or simply to hang around.

I don't just intro any club I came across, nor becauses it's a member of the Kakis Isles but rather, is this -

I have never ever find someone who has such a fervent desire to create a better place in both RL & SL gay community, and one can tell a lot by the way he decorate his home. *wink*

It's a highly anticipated party night for many...especially the ladies. Many ladies have took the time to shop for the sexiest, sauciest, hottest lingerie to wear for the party. Even the guys are doing their best to be sexy too!

Many stayed on to party even for a couple of hours more after the party is supposed to end at 11pm. It was another wonderful night at Kaki Isles.

We had a very successful party that night...the biggest turnout for our Kakis Nights Party. Many people turn up in fabulous Gothic outfits and party the whole night away.

The party ended with a ride on the Ghost Ship, ehmm....carefully piloted by Jee for those who dared to go on board and went up to touch SL heaven for a while.

We had our first major event at Thinc Cafe today....

Domch had to leave SL and Kaki Isles for a while. Me, Laforge, JS and Linx decided to buy over Domch Isle and do something with it for the time being. With a heavy heart, we helped to close down Blissworks and returned all the items to Domch...

We are still waiting hopefully for Domch to come back and take over his land again....soon.

Kakis 2nd RL gathering - 14 Sep 2007

Joeru is back in Singapore for two weeks.

Finally after waiting for so long, we get to meet her in person.

It is not easy to get all the kakis together for this gathering. Laforge and Linx couldn't make it...but we have other new friends joining us for this gathering too. Miki, Tuilipcia and Zen.

Our gathering is at Luxe's office on Friday 7.30pm and it is a very cosy place for us to hangout. She was so nice to prepare dinner for us...I guess it was a first for some of us in trying out mexican food...we had fajitas and drinks brought in by the kakis.

We had such a lovely time hanging out together in RL on that night and the gathering only end at 12.30am.

Hopefully we can have another gathering again soon and we can invite more friends to join in!

Tonight, we are having some high tech fun with some friends....

It all started with Laforge getting his own personal helicopter....and when friends pop over, they bring along their planes and even a magic carpet. Then we all went for some fun ride in the air tonight.But have to mention that some of us do need some flying lessons....we can fly till we crash the SIM.

We tried something different tonight. Instead of dancing or chatting, we tried ice skating and snowball fight tonight.

Did some crazy stuff even when we are doing harmless thing like skating and snowballing. ;-)

There was an accident, Laforge ran over Seiryu a few times....ops..

We tried to help revive Seiryu but seems like he is too far gone. So I put him in an ice cube and tried to preserve his body as long as possible. After all the hard work, we had to take a rest and sit on the ice cube.

I discovered that my Moony is dead again. This time found it inside our house....sob sob. It never even last more than a week before dying again.

SL is not working well tonight but that does not stop us kakis from getting together. We nearly gave up meeting at Mu-La isles and switch over to chatting in MSN instead.

However, after a while, we manage to get back in to Kaki Isles and have a great time chatting again.

After missing for about a month and me giving up hope on finding my cat anymore....Linx found Moony!

Turns out that Moony has been lying dead in the sea next to the house on Mu-La isle.
My poor darling cat has been dead there for so long .....sob sob.
It was found on the night when SL is so buggy.

This is the first Kakis Night gathering on Kakis Isles....on 23 July 9-11pm.

For the very first time, all the 7 founders are online together !!
Being photogenic people...we definitely must take a photo together for this rare occasion.

After this, we took photos with the rest of the friends...what a fun night. Trying to get all of us to take the poseballs, trying to wake up friends/kakis who went AFK now and then....finally after a lot of hardwork, we got the photos we want!This is definitely a night to remember....:)

Linx was practicing her building skills on her isle this evening and while she was digging and moving parcels of sand around, she discovered a great white fossil buried deep under her isle!

Maybe it was Kaka's great great great great ancestor???

Laforge Graves made a "grave" mistake yesterday when he made this month tier payment to Jee.
He paid S$5 less! As a result, Jee came rushing to hunt Laforge down at Mu-la isle last evening.

After stripping Laforge naked and giving him only a bare minimum pig-head thongs for modesty (have some nice ladies around), Laforge was given the Jee's style of BDSM treatment for his inability to pay the full amount immediately.

Here's some pictures to show Jee's torturing Laforge. Also as a reminder to other kakis...please remember to pay up your monthly tier in full and on time!! Else, might face more serious consequences from Jee....

Kakis Photo Shoot + Kakis Picture Wall

In a rare opportunity last night, almost all Kakis are online at the same time (Almost - because Domch login just after Linuxess logoff).

Anyway, we managed to get everyone to get on the pose balls to take a group photo shot. Haven't have one big group shot since that one that we took in March. Have to take two shots because Linuxess and Domch were not on at the same time.

Well, this is the best we can get to a complete group photo at the moment.

And finally, the Kakis Picture Wall is completed....It is proudly displayed inside the house at Mu-la Isle.

Hey, I wonder if any of our SL friends miss seeing the kakis online that night?

Other than Joeru...the kakis are actually meeting up in RL for the first time. We were all at Settlers Cafe for the whole evening. We finally made the big move to meet in person finally. :) Even Joeru made it to Settlers cafe...thanks to Laforge for hooking us up with her using MSN video conference.

I am saying this for myself, that I totally enjoyed the time with my kakis last evening. It's a strange feeling....meeting strangers who feel like old friends.

Pirates on Kaki Isles

Unfortunately for Jee who happened to be around at that time, he was captured by them and was nearly executed until he agreed to give the three pirates all his Linden $$$ ( a very considerable amount) and his secret stashed of cigars.

Jee Isle
Something is on Jee's isle - a Director's chair. The only thing there at the moment. ;)

Mutan and Laforge Isle

We have dedicated a section of the house to showcase the photos of our 7 Kaki Isles Founders and some buddies. The photo will light up when the Kaki is online. At the moment, still short of Jee and Linuxess pictures.

Linuxess Isle
The land is still under development. I saw this narrow path between a steep valley that eventually leads to some sort of Japanese bathhouse I think.

Domch Isle
Saw the most gentle looking creature swimming in Domch's Isle lagoon. The Beluga Whale is swimming peacefully and will play with you gently when you swim near it.

Jeoru IsleThe most delicious looking couch set here. Such a pleasure to chat with friends while sitting on such beautiful furniture.

Luxe Isle
An interesting concept is being developed here....shall not disclose too much at the moment. ;-)

hmm...still nothing much there...maybe Jee put an invisibility cloak on the isles...that's why we still see nothing there.

Mutan and Laforge IslesAdded some more furnitures....ignore some of the objects here...they were the litter left by our ever-hardworking bangla JS Yoshikawa during his lunch and dinner break while working on the isles.

Domch's Isles suddenly bloomed overnight...I have to take three snapshots to cover the structures on his isles. His land never fails to impress.

Building updates

Looks like it's time to do some updating on our building progress on Kaki Isles even though it is only like 5 days ago when we first got our individual Isles. :)

Last night before going to bed at 2am, I went round Kaki Isles taking snapshots of the our Kaki's isles development. Here's the progress update. ;)

Domch Isles

I have not visited Domch's Isles since we first got our land. When I saw the building...It was like WOW....what's inside is even more interesting...Since it is still work in progress. I won't say much here yet. Go there and take a look if you want to see what's inside. :)

Joeru Isles

Joeru also setup a temporary "shelter" while she and Luxe are working on their plan for the land.

Luxe Isles

So far, Luxe's isles seems to be the most developed amongst our 6 Isles. She already got the building and some plants done up on the second day after we got the isles. Her house is magnificent. I saw Joeru drooling over the house when we were visiting Luxe at her isles...haha

Jee Isles
Nothing on Jee's land yet? awww.....Seems like Jee had been so busy shaping the lands and helping us on our isles that he have not started any work on his own isles yet. One thing to look forward to is the porting over of Thinc Cafe....the place where we all met and started our wonderful friendships.

Mutan and Laforge Isles

We have also started working on the isles. Engaged the help of the ever helpful JS Yoshikawa to help with the setting of the house. Nothing much yet but the house and some trees are there now. While the place is still under construction, we already have friends dropping by and "showering" us with furniture and stuff.... to help us with decorating the place. But...ehmm...the stuff they showered us with aren't exactly PG stuff...hahaha. Anyway, it's just for fun. :)

Linuxesss Isles
Linuxess planted some houses on her isles. Her builders have not come in to start work for her yet...so you see, there's a house on the channel between her isles and mine. haha. I am looking forward to seeing her Japanese theme Isles when it is ready!

So exciting....most of the Kakis login tonight and some already started building on the land straight away. :)

Jee, our ever so hardworking kaki, has been toiling hard on Sunday to divide out the land so that the rest of us can start building on it as soon as possible.Jee and his heavy duty machines!

As our lovely Mutan has put it, it's one fine nite that the few of us discussed that we decided to gather as a "family" and build a "home" in SL.

The few of us that always hang out, drunk out and dance the nights away.

And now that we've got our SIM and the "In-Jee-Nious" Jee has so professionally and so much dedication to his role that he's done up a phantom walk-thru layout for us!!

Oh man... Now I have to get my builders in!!!

Kaki Isles is finally here! 9 May 2007

After a seemingly long wait (only a week from the day that Jee told us that he paid up for the SIM), our Kaki Isles is finally delivered to us on 9 May 07!

We can't wait to go and see our very own land!

Our first landing on Kaki Isles!

The Beginning

The idea of getting a SIM with a group of SL friends were brought up by Jee.

However, I think it was one night in mid April 07 that a few of us who were dancing the night away at Domch's skybox that decided who are the ones to form a group. Jee took the lead in settling the land purchase matters.

Took us quite a while to get everyone to meet up on 30 Apr 07 and shortlist the possible names for the SIM. Even so, on that night of meeting, Jee was not able to login to SL. However we managed to decide on the name of the SIM shortly after and KAKI ISLES is the name for our SIM.
